Just last night we were watching the end of the Dodgers/Nationals game on the edge of our seats waiting for Jansen to make up for what he did the game before. Thankfully, he did! And I was SUPER excited my favorite Dodger player Andre Ethier "Captain Clutch" came to the show! My husband always says to me "Ethier Sucks!" but there's a reason he's still on the team and I hope he retires a Dodger. When he delivered, I just looked at him and he had nothing to say! That's right fool!
So, our beloved Dodgers are headed back to Washington for game 5 tomorrow. All I keep thinking is "We have to win for Vin!" ~ stay tuned...
Tonight is also the Kings first game of the regular season against the Sharks. I can't believe how fast these seasons come and go! My die-hard Kings Fan Son Jacob will be going to the home opener Friday. I am bummed we can't make it but he'll be there for all of us! LA Kings 50th Anniversary Opening Weekend ! What a lucky guy!
That's my Son cheering loudly with a beer in his hand next to his Black Hawks fan Best Friend who is obviously disappointed. LOL ~ these photos are priceless. I love that the Kings do this.
Did you know we are one of the lucky fans who has Rams season tickets????? Yes, yes we are! The last home Rams game I attended prior to them coming home was in 1994! We have been enjoying the games so much! However, I can't lie - I cannot wait for the new stadium to be built. The Coliseum is awesome for historical reasons, but it's no state of the art stadium that's for sure. In addition, there is NO PARKING to tailgate! We missed the boat and didn't buy season ticket parking (lesson learned!) so we are at the mercy of dudes on bikes who solicit parking spaces for money on public property and streets! LOL well it is LA I guess! Football is a short season in relation to the rest so we're taking each game and making great memories.
Last, but certainly not least, my fantasy Football Team. "First & Girl is 4-1 right now! In second place! My team is strong and I am feeling pretty confident that out of 14 teams in our League I will make the playoffs. MAYBE even win it ALL!
With Fantasy football on Thursdays, Sundays and Mondays, The Dodgers (fingers crossed) continuing in the playoffs, Kings hockey back in full swing and Rams home games...this girl is in Sports heaven!
In a blink of an eye, my Fantasy Football season is over. Out of 14 teams I finished in 12th place. So I am not the ultimate loser, but pretty darn close.
For the most part Matthew Stafford was a disappointment. 10 interceptions and 37 sacks? Alshon Jefferey barely started to show up. Zack Ertz was never thrown the ball, even with the talent of a TE1. The starting RB's on my team were more consistent, yet still not phenomenal; Joique Bell and Lamar Miller. I was plagued with injuries, just like the rest of us, and saw the words "probable and questionable" all too often on my roster.
Every season I don't win comes the promise of a new season filled with hope, wonder, excitement and the possibility of winning the championship. Every season I say "Next year I won't drink and draft" and every new season I drink and draft. I guess when it comes down to it, it's mainly luck.
So I say "better luck next year Ames" to myself and now I can sit back and watch my Rams play an entire game instead of the Red Zone channel for 8 hours. I will miss you Andrew Siciliano. Until next season.
~Dearest Neighbors, Please do not call the police, it's not domestic violence or a wild party, it's football season and that's just me screaming at my TV.
Well it's been almost a month since my last blog post. At that time my Dodgers had won the NL West, Hockey hadn't officially started yet and my Fantasy football team was only 3 games deep. Needless to say I was pissed off that the Dodgers didn't move on (DAMN CARDS!) but I was happy we went further than the Gaylos. My husband even won $100 bet off that one. "Thanks Natalie!"
Present day. I never thought I'd find myself wanting an AL team to win the World Series but there is NO WAY IN HELL I want the Giants to win! On top of that no brainer, I kinda like the fact that the Royals are the underdog. I'd love to see them win it all. My Kings are 4-1-1, my Fantasy football team is 1-6-0 (I actually changed my team name from First & Girl to Team Narcissist and got my first win) and I can't be happier. I know I won't make the playoffs, but it sure is fun trying.
I'll leave you with this: The most hilarious video I have seen in a very long time. Got to give it to Jay Mohr.
This next series is going to be an intense one. The Giants are only 2 games back and there are 16 games left in the regular season. Out of those games the Dodgers only have one day off and that's after 10 straight games on the road. I truly believe the Dodgers can win it - and should win it. KEEP CALM AND BEAT SF!!!! FUCK THE GIANTS!!!! (I'm such a lady...lol)
On another note, I lost my 1st fantasy football game for week 1. However, I was the BIGGEST LOSER because I lost with 130 pts and I would have beat 9 other teams! So I am optimistic for my team this season. AND at 130 pts that was with one of my WR's not in the game, Alshon Jeffrey out for the 4th Qtr and my DEF getting -2 pts! DOH! I am pumped for Sunday - my opponent has no players on Monday so my one remaining player Monday could be the deciding factor IF I don't beat him Sunday first! First & Girl!!!!!
Have a great weekend all! I am one lucky Mama, my Son is grilling some fish tonight and making Anchos perfect Ranchero Sauce. I think it calls for some Patrón Silver with Patrón Citrónage Margaritas!
This blog isn't about making myself look good. It's about writing what I am thinking about, how I'm feeling at the moment or just random acts of stupidity as I am about to do now. Last night was my long anticipated fantasy football draft. I had all sorts of "cheat sheets" handy and thought to myself "This year I'm going to draft smart!" How did it go you ask? See for yourself. This is going to be a long season and I already have a waiver dropping Austin Davis and adding Shaun Hill. I know...I still have so much to learn. At least there was only $50 on the line. You have to love how witty these hooligans at Yahoo are. Or are they Yahoos? Go ahead and have a laugh on me. It's almost the weekend! ~ Ames
First of all, today is a complete turn around compared to yesterday! A lot of factors contributed to the why, but I am so happy today it's surreal. YAYMEAMY!
This week, the fantasy football league I have been in for the last 3 seasons "My Wife Hates This Sh*t" opened up the new season. Right off the bat our teams started the shit talking. I fucking LOVE it. I don't know why I love to write so much, but I could write a post in there the size of a novel if they'd let me! I am not a talker. Not in the slightest. But put me behind a keyboard and a place to write my opinions, feelings, concerns, nonsense and shit talking and it's ON.
I will admit I am more comfortable in the company of men than women. I have my good girlfriends, of course, but I'm not a shopper, not a gabber, not a "let's do lunch" kind of girl. I love the camaraderie a group of guys have, standing around a BBQ or in front of a great sports game on TV with a drink in their hand talking bullshit. It's just who I am. There is no drama. There is an upfront demeanor men have where hey can say things like "Dammit you look like fucking shit today, what the hell happened to you?" with a response of "FUCK YOU". LOL! You tell that to a woman and she'll get her panties in a bunch and tell you how rude you are. It's just all in fun. Don't take it so serious. I still am a girlie-girl with full make-up, jewelry and the occasional stilettos, but I can talk like a drunken sailor (especially when I AM drunk LOL) and shit talk with the best of the guys. I can hold my own and am just as passionate about my fantasy football team as the men are. As a matter of fact, I take my team very seriously. I am glued to ESPN Red Zone on Sundays (I get a kick out of Andrew Siciliano's commentating too) with my trusty Chromebook intensely following my stat tracker. I am screaming with joy when my players score a TD and screaming obscenities when my QB just threw an interception. I am a Wife, but I fucking LOVE This Sh*t!!!
42 days until my draft...tick tock tick tock First & Girl is gonna ROCK!
